Name of the Royal Baby – Place Your Bets!

Hello, fellow gamblers and welcome to another blog post! We may be a little late with this topic, but we still wanted to join the fun. As we all know, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have an adorable son named Archie, who stole our hearts since the very first time he was presented to the world. And, how wouldn’t he?! He was such a cute fluffy baby! However, there were probably a lot of people who were disappointed as well. You see, there were a lot of placed bets what the name of royal baby would be, and it looks like the reveal was a big surprise.

In this article, we will do our best to share what were the odds regarding the name of the royal baby back then, what were the top royal baby name bets and what are the new bets for the royal family. Continue reading!

Royal Betting – How It Started?

Gamblers went crazy when they first heard that Meghan and Harry are expecting. This was the perfect time to lay odds and try to guess the future heir’s name, based on different analysis, strange theories and more. Beforehand, there were bets whether the child was going to be a boy or a girl. We imagine how there were speculations like: “Since her belly is lower, then it must be a boy!” or “I heard she eats a lot of carrots. She’s definitely having a girl!” and other crazy assumptions by regular people, even doctors.

Big Betting Sites Laying Odds

We’ve mentioned how gamblers placed a lot of bets on the royal baby’s name, but some of the biggest casino betting sites in the business also took part in this ‘game’. Ladbrokes and Betfair are two of the best betting sites in the UK that, according to resources, took wagers on almost everything baby related. There were bets on the gender of the baby, the weight of the baby and what the name of the little angel would be.

After Archie’s birth and before his official name announcement, Ladbrokes spoke on the placed odds and shared that the name Alexander was the top choice, followed by Spencer, James and Arthur. According to an article by William Hill casino, the name Spencer was a possible name for the new royal baby since it could have been a fitting tribute to the late ‘people’s princess’ Diana, as her maiden name was Spencer. As you can see, Archie was a big surprise for everyone and the lucky name for the fewer gamblers that betted on it!

Queen Influence Speculations

There have been (still are) a lot of speculations that Queen Elizabeth II has a lot of influence on her family, including Archie. Gamblers, journalists and regular UK citizens speculated that the future heir was going to be named after this powerful woman if it was a girl. Another interesting guess that had a lot of odds laid on was that the baby was going to be born in late April around Easter like its great-grandmother. It may not have happened that way, but you never know – maybe the next baby will be the future Elizabeth III!

Royal Baby Queen

Other guessed that the royal baby would be named after Queen Victoria if it was a girl or after her husband Albert. Alongside these name suggestions, Philip (after Prince Philip) and Charles (after Prince Charles) were also some of the top picks.

Are There New Upcoming Bets?

If you think that there are no bets left with regards to the Royal Family, you’re wrong! After the birth of Meghan and Harry’s baby, people started betting on other absurd things like when the Queen would abdicate and who would be the next king/queen. As of now, there are new bets on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s life.

We recently paid a visit to a few of the best gambling sites in the UK and saw what the new ‘Royal’ odds are. There are bets that there is going to be a baby announcement in 2020 – babies, to be exact! We’re no experts whatsoever, we cannot say whether this would be genetically possible, but a lot of gamblers believe that the couple might have twins or triplets.

Other laid odds are based on the couple’s future jobs and home. As you probably know, Harry and Meghan have said that they would like to move outside the UK. A lot of people have placed bets on Vancouver and Toronto as a future home possibility.

Wherever they go, whatever they decide to do, we think that the most important in this case is for the family to be happy and healthy!
