Big Top Slot Review – All the Fun of the Circus

Big Top is a Microgaming powered slot machine featuring a 5×3 setup, but unlike the other slot titles from this iGaming giant, you will find no bountiful bonuses to trigger. Players must rely heavily on base game wins and the odd scatter pay here and there, but how much fun can you get from a slot with no features? Read on to find out. Big Top’s RTP is 96.94%, which throws up frequent wins of small value.

For those of you who love simple slots with big pay outs, you’re going to love Big Top, but despite it being simple, you’re going to have to know what to look out for when playing, so this is what you’ll find across this page. A free pay demo also allows you to try before you buy, plus the final section on this page details our verdict and other recommendations.

Try Big Top Slot for Free

Knowing how to play a slot machine before staking any money, is important, which is why Microgaming casinos have a free demo of Big Top. Below you can see how the interface and reels look. It’s important to note that the demo works and feels exactly the same as if you were playing with real cash, so you get to witness how the reels spin and how frequent the wins flow as soon as the game loads. The betting buttons on the control panel can be used to experiment with different bet sizes and to dabble with the auto play feature. It’s entirely up to you.

Free Demo of the Big Top Slot

You will find many online casinos offering the Big Top slot game, but our recommendation is Betway Casino. There, players can enjoy the best of the UK’s online slots coupled with other games and even a live dealer experience but before that, there is a generous £1000 welcome bonus to be claimed. Use your free welcome bonus to try your luck with this simple animated creation from Microgaming or, use it on something a little different – the choice is entirely yours.

The Fun is in the Big Top Tent

Anyone who has ever visited a circus will know, that there’s fun to be had, but you’re not going to find as much fun playing Big Top in our opinion. The 5×3 grid formation is made up of 5 reels and 9 win lines and the theme almost resembles a children’s cartoon – which is never good with adult gambling machines. Navigation is simple and you’ll find a control panel of options positioned to the lower screen. Use the select lines button to adjust the lines in play and the adjuster arrows to set your bet. Click the ‘expert’ button and the control panel now displays the auto play options. Sounds are automatically muted when you play, but you can turn them on via the golden speaker icon to the top right of the screen.

Colourful Symbols and Payouts

Wild symbols are represented by the bonkers clown. Wilds will replace all symbols on the reels, bar scatter to help create a win where it may have been missed. Scatter symbols are the monkeys; three or more award scatter pays. The game logo is the highest paying symbol, which triggers a 5,000x multiplier when a complete win line is found. High value symbols are the performing lion with up to 600x and the other clown with a 500x multiplier. Medium value symbols are the elephant with up to 300x and the seal with a top prize of 250x. Low value symbols are the card values of; 10, J, Q, K and A – paying between 100x and 150x for a five of a kind combination.

Minimum stakes cost £2.25p a spin, which isn’t exactly suited to players with a small bankroll, whilst high stakes are capped at £45 per spin. The jackpot is a non-progressive jackpot, meaning it will never increase or decrease in value. The maximum multiplier achievable from the Big Top slot is 5,000x.

What About the Bonus Features?

Unfortunately, you will find no bonus features of any kind – no free spins, no bonus, no gamble feature – nothing!

Is Big Top Slot Mobile Optimised?

Another disappointment comes with Big Top not being mobile compatible, meaning you will need to log in via a desktop computer or laptop to play.

Our Verdict and other Slots

The lack of bonus features really makes Big Top a disappointing game to play. We love our circus-themed slots to have more oomph and more ways to win, which is why we enjoy playing Cirque du Soleil Kooza from Bally. Cirque du Soleil Kooza offers great value for money and plenty of entertainment, thanks to trickster free games, pick a bonus to trigger one of four progressive jackpots or bonuses, wheel of death free games and a max base game win of £4,000! Stacked symbols and performing artists will keep you on the edge of your seat as you watch the action unfold from the arena. Gladiator slot machine also fits the description well.

Big Top? More like big flop in our opinion. There isn’t much to keep you playing for long periods of time and even though the base game wins are frequent, they’re small in value more often than not. Unless you have a fairly big bankroll, you’re not going to see any big wins flowing, because the more you bet the more you can win, but by doing this, you’re whittling your bankroll down very quickly. The design and theme is too bold and almost dazzling and the sounds are not in-keeping with the theme – there’s just too many disadvantages to Big Top, which is disappointing.
