This Guy Ritchie movie, like the rest of his films, has made a great impact on the crime-comedy genre. We will tell you how the fans accepted it and how much profit the movie made around the world. Spoiler alert: we are sorry about the spoilers, but this article is about the movie. If you have not seen it yet, do so as soon as you can.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Movie – The Trouble Manual

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) is one of a kind gangster movie. It is like using some of the top casino promo codes when playing online and the feeling is almost like cheating but in a good way. You legally get more benefits than the other players, yet, you feel like a gangster. Ever since the first scene, we are thrown in the middle of the characters’ lives, and every new scene shows the desires and plans of every new character we see. Blink and you will miss a main twist in the plot, and then all will look like a big mess. The film is like a crazy crossroad where everyone meets, interact, and go their separate ways. The only thing that connects everyone, well, we will get to that part too.

Our Guys

As we know from the rest of Guy Ritchie’s movies, the good guys are rarely involved in those stories. Here, once again, we will see only bad and very bad guys. You can pick a favourite if you like, but to distinguish the main characters we decided to call them “bad guys”. The Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ main characters are four friends – Eddie (the Gambler), Bacon (the Hustler), Soap (the Chef), and Tom (the Entrepreneur).

What connects them are their friendship and the constant new ideas for making money. The four friends’ main occupation is the realm of shady businesses like selling stolen property to other gangsters or the common people. Their empty pockets proved that their endeavours always failed. We will tell you about their latest idea in a while. Now, we will introduce the rest of the colourful characters in the movie.

As you will notice when you watch Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, there are no strictly good guys in the centre of this movie, but we will mention them because they suffered collateral damages because of the main characters. First, we must mention a policeman who was beaten up twice. Next on our list is Eddie’s father, who almost lost his bar (we will get to that part of the story) and has to deal with his son’s failures daily. Last but not least, is the owner of antique shotguns, who got robbed.

The Bad Guys

Besides the three “good guys”, everyone else is from bad to worse. That is one of the points that increased Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ Netflix’ popularity. We can see from the start that the four main characters are no angels, and we wonder how much worse can it get? Well, way worse. If we can separate them in categories, the bad guys in the movie deal stolen property, grow weed, and rob houses (with pantyhose on their heads instead of masks).

☠️ The Bad Buys 🔫 The Very Bad Guys
Dean & Garry Small Thieves Hatchet Harry & Barry the Baptist
Weed Growers Band of Professional Thieves
Nick the Greek The Drug Lord Rory
Big Chris Debt Collector

The very bad guys, on the other hand, are no shy to hurt or even kill people while committing other crimes. First, we are introduced to Hatchet Harry & Barry the Baptist. Hatchett Harry’s legal business is selling adult toys, but he takes part in large crime schemes to increase profit or to fill up his collection with rare guns.

We will also see the drug lord Rory, who likes to watch football and sell his grown weed. There is also a band of professional thieves always on the look to find the next big loot. Last is the Jack-of-all-trades – debt collector Big Chris who performs tasks for Hatchet Harry and anyone else who pays enough.

What’s the Connection Between the Characters?

The collision between our guys with the bad and the worse people in London begins with the desire to make money fast. Eddie, the Gambler, has the incredible idea to take part in an underground poker game. His friends help him collect the £100,000 buy-in in hopes of splitting a larger prize. Confident in his poker playing skills, Eddie sits on the table ready to take down even Harry “Hatchet” Londsdale.

The game goes well, and Eddie gains confidence. When the moment of truth arrives, he is certain in his high hand and bets it all. The opponent, Harry the Hatchet, accepts the bet and raises, while Barry The Baptist spies on the other players’ cards. At this point Eddie plays now for £500,000 and his father’s pub. Cards fall, and it becomes clear that The Hatchett had won.

We observe how Eddie takes the failure with the great song from the Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ soundtrack “I Wanna Be Your Dog” by the Stooges. The losing gambler retreats to tell his friends that now they owe The Hatchet and if they don’t pay within a week, they will lose more than fingers. As you can tell, the situation is quite serious and more complex than losing a few quid at some of the best online casinos for real money or even at live blackjack UK casinos

The Side Stories Make the Plot Twist

Holland and Holland Paradox

While the four friends search for half a million pounds, the real criminals do their own business. This is the moment to say that the Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels movie is about desires and working on getting what you want. For example, the professional robbers want money and are ready to do anything necessary to get rich fast. Their desire seems easily achieved when they decide to rob a group of weed growers. The plan is made, and they start the preparation for the robbery.

Hatchet Harry wants antique shotguns and sends his associate, The Baptist, to get them. Barry The Baptist has the perfect people for the task. Garry and Dean are small thieves, and they work cheap. They are ready to do any task for money and out of fear from the Baptist. Disguised with long stockings on their heads and armed with tiny guns, they commit to stealing the shotguns. They succeed in retrieving the guns, but the theft transforms into robbery, and they barely escape alive.

If you don’t want to be countin’ the fingers you haven’t got, or sharing a bed with the Anti-Christ, I want those guns! QUICK!Barry The Baptist, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)

The Solution to All Problems

Unknowing about the other people’s troubles, Bacon, Eddie, Soap, and Tom try to drown their worries while thinking of a way to solve their own problems. It seems like gambling wouldn’t quite bring a solution to their issues. At the time, there weren’t any gambling sites where they could use hefty slots bonuses, as well as live casino bonuses. Speaking of new casino offers, you do not even need to spend your own money to claim casino bonus no deposit offers. Then an overheard conversation between the thieves gives Bacon, Eddie, Soap, and Tom an incredible idea.

The four friends would wait for the robbery to be over and then steal the money from the thieves. Nick the Greek has the one thing necessary for them to fulfil their plan – weapons. But the boys can afford only two old shotguns that are the antiques Hatchet Harry wants. Armed and disguised, our guys wait for the real thieves to appear with the bags of money. All goes by plan and Bacon, Soap, Eddie, and Tom manage to get the cash and escape.

Who Won in the End?

Well, in short, everyone got what they deserved. When the professional thieves robbed and killed the weed-growers, they drew the attention of their boss. Rory, the drug lord fond of sports, gathered his men and chased after the thieves to retrieve his stolen money and marijuana. They met in a shootout and eventually everyone died.

In the meantime, Harry The Hatchet was tired of waiting for his guns and his money and hires Big Chris to acquire the items. Here, the plot twists and turns can become confusing if you have not paid attention so far. In short, in the end, all bad guys die. Well, not all of them, watch Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and without surprise you will see that our guys are fine. Also Big Chris gets the money and decides to venture into a money loaning career.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Big Chris

It does sound like a happy end, except our four friends are once more left without cash, but at least they owe nothing to no one. What they have are the two old shotguns used in a crime, so the boys decide to get rid of them. As Tom is sent to fulfil this mission, the rest of them are sitting in the bar trying to think of new opportunities. Eddie’s father checks a gun magazine Big Chris left for the boys and shows them pictures of the shotguns they had a worth of about half a million pounds.

The last cliff hanger in the movie is the boys realising the shotguns’ worth. They try calling their friend and stop him from throwing them away. The last image we ever see is Tom hanging over a bridge holding to the guns with one hand as his phone rings. Did he drop them? Did they sold the guns and lived happily ever after? We will never know unless there is a second part of this great movie.
