What are the International Gaming Awards?

Each entertainment industry has its gala night where awards are acknowledged for excellence and contributions towards the overall development of the field. The movie industry has the Oscars, the National Society of Film Critics Awards, the Golden Globe Awards and many more. Musicians around the world compete for the BRIT Awards and the Grammys. In the world of gambling and sports betting one such equivalent is the IGA. The International Gaming Awards night is one of the most prestigious and significant events in the gaming industry calendar. The main purpose of the ceremony is to recognise the efforts that companies make each year in order to improve the world of gambling. Annually a committee formed of independent experts is assigned with the task to set out and find the best performers in almost 30 different categories. Because of the stiff competition and a large number of participants, receiving an award is a sign of tremendous accomplishment. Furthermore, the guest list includes high ranking officials representing the world’s leading companies in the field, thus making it networking heaven as well.

The IGA in 2019

2019 marked the 12th edition of the event and the awards ceremony took place on February 2 in London. This year the location was shifted from Grosvenor House on Park Lane to the infamous Savoy Hotel. Participants have expressed their delight and described the function as glamorous, exciting and the place to be at. It all kicked off with a champagne reception where the participants had the chance to get to know each other and exchange valuable ideas, before going straight into the charity auction. Amongst the list of supported charities, you can find organisations such as CARE International, Children with Cancer UK, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and more. So far this year, the IGA have managed to raise £250,000 of their £500,000 target. The rest of the night was dedicated to the awards ceremony itself and the celebrations that followed. Here are some of the comments, made during the reception:

The IGA sure is the winner of the “Best Award Show”. Arrangements are first class. Please forward our thanks and praise to your team of a job well done! Ebba Arnred – Chief Marketing Officer at Play’n Go – the winners of the Best Slot Provider Award

Thank you for an amazing event, which by far overshadows other events in terms of venue, glamour, fun and arrangement. Bo Wanghammar – Managing Director Casino at Poker Stars – 2019’s Online Poker Operator of the year

What Makes the Awards So Important?

We suppose that some of you might be asking themselves the question, What do I have to do with a party where a bunch of executives receive small statuettes? Here is the answer. The awards ceremony is just the tip of the iceberg, the culmination of a whole year of hard work and developments by all the companies operating in the field of gambling. Each prize is a statement towards you, the players, and an authoritative indication of which software developers, sports betting or casino operators are worth your time and attention. We too take note of each year winners when doing our research on online casinos and game developers. That is especially true when a single company has won multiple awards in consecutive years.
